Our Story
We are a local, small, woman owned and operated woodworking business located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We specialize in creating high-end statement piece custom wood floating shelves and fireplace mantels.
It all started in 2019. A few years prior my husband and I had a new home built in Winnipeg. When choosing some of the finishes for our home we realized that there was a huge mark up on building materials and the products that the builder was offering were not the quality that we wanted for our new home. We already had the tools and the know how, so we took some measurements, drew up some plans and got to work framing and finishing a built-in for our great room.
We added stone, cabinets, floating shelves and a fireplace mantel to finish off the space. We received so many compliments on our work. Around this time Covid hit, I lost my job in the travel insurance industry. I had always dreamt of being a small business owner, but never realized that I had some talents that I could put to good use. I started building some small pieces for around the home, floating shelves, ledge shelves, etc. Friends and family seen my work and started ordering pieces for their homes. I decided to take a chance and post pictures of pieces I had built online.
It started off with a few Marketplace and Kijiji sales. Within a few short months my hobby turned into a business. When deciding on a name I wanted to include our children in this business. K&A stands for our children, Kaelyn and Asher. This is our 4th official year running K&A Wooden Creations. We have grown so much over me last 4 years and cannot wait to see where the future will take us. Thanks for considering supporting my family and my dream!
